Our History in Fallbrook

One Man's Dream to Serve the People of Fallbrook...

When you visit this historic site you feel a sense of peace and all of our efforts are centered around bringing comfort to you and your loved ones.    In 1916 Horatio Smelser decided to locate  suitable land for a public cemetery, the following year (1917) he presented a preliminary plat to the members of the Masonic Lodge who assisted in its development. It has been a public cemetery ever since.

Family Values in Action

The cemetery has a long rich family tradition of service. Our grounds crew have been headed up by Felipe Ortiz since 1974, and now the third generation of his family work to maintain the dignity and respect your loved one deserve on  daily basis.

Custodians in Perpetuity

When Horacio Smelser passed in 1918 he entrusted the care of the Fallbrook Cemetery to his Brothers in the Fallbrook Masonic Lodge. The Men and Women who work daily at the Cemetery do so as custodians of honor for not only your love ones, but theirs too.
